Xinhua launches China's first cartoon news-commentary program

BEIJING, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Xinhua News Agency, China's statenews agency, on Wednesday launched the country's first cartoon news-commentary program, the "Brother E Has Something to Say" in the cityof Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province.

To watch the program, viewers can download an application calledZhongguo Wangshi (China's Internet Events) to their computers aswell as smart mobile phones and tablet computers based on Google'sAndroid operating system or iOS, Apple's mobile operating system.

The "China's Internet Events" is a news column run by Xinhua. Thecolumn specializes in reporting news that first becomes known on theWeb. The application was launched on Wednesday as well.

With the application, Android and iOS users can watch a BrotherE's animated figure commenting on major domestic events every dayand 3D animations recapturing these events.

The program, which is co-produced by Xinhua and a company inZhejiang province, is also available on www.xinhuanet.com andelsewhere on the Internet, including video websites.
