Slovene fined for drunken horse cart driving

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (AP) — A Slovenian man has been fined €1,200 ($1,700) for driving a horse-drawn cart under the influence of alcohol.

Police said Wednesday the 41-year-old had blood alcohol levels three times the legal limit for driving a car. He was operating a cart pulled by two horses.

The unidentified man spent a night sobering up at a police station in Novo Mesto, eastern Slovenia. Police did not say where were the horses were kept while he recuperated.

Police say his drivers license was temporarily impounded, although the document is not needed to drive horse carts.
