VIC: Sporting shooters counter anti duck shooters claims

Sporting shooters have challenged statements by an anti-duck shooting campaigner that duck
numbers are at an all-time low and the Victorian government should cancel this year's duck
season.

Veteran campaigner against duck shooting LAURIE LEVY says that shooting wetlands in
northwest Victoria are extremely dry, causing duck numbers to be low.

He's called on the Victorian Government to cancel this year's duck season, due next month,
because duck numbers are at their lowest level on record.

But the Sporting Shooters' Association says Mr LEVY's statement is wrong, and that some
wetlands that are normally dry this time of year are now full, and that duck numbers are up.
