Bridlington man helps Cumbria flood victims.

Ian Waines, 45, travelled to the stricken Cumbrian town as part of the International Rescue Corps, a voluntary non-Government-funded disaster rescue service.

Ian, who has been a member of the IRC for 10 years, was contacted by police last Thursday to travel to Cockermouth to go on stand-by, as heavy floods were expected.

Flood waters had already started to rise on Thursday after heavy rain saw water levels eventually reach eight feet in the town centre.

Mr Waines said: "By the time we got there the floods had already really took hold; that was around tea-time on Thursday.
